Adding a New State

Add a state and register your state payroll accounts for the first time, or import information for state payroll accounts you've previously registered.

Add a state to run payroll for the first time

💡Pro Tip: Use the "Automate with Mosey" option to let Mosey handle new account registrations.

If you are running payroll in a new state for the first time, watch this video, or follow the steps below:

 

1) Go to the Locations section and click "Add New State"


2) Select the state and click "Next."

Mosey will guide you through a series of questions to calculate your compliance requirements. Begin by clicking “Continue”

3) Select "Yes" when Mosey asks if you currently have or plan on hiring employees. 

4) Select “No” when Mosey asks if you've already completed the step.

5) When prompted to automate it with Mosey, select “Use Mosey automation”

6) Submit the form

7) You're all set! Mosey will take it from here and you'll be notified once account registration has been completed. You can then grab your tax account information from the “Accounts” tab and provide them to your payroll provider.

Complete each requirement in the Compliance Navigator (the left hand column in the screenshot below). You’ll be able to import information for any accounts previously created/registered outside of Mosey, assign incomplete tasks, and automate certain requirements with Mosey. As you enter in your existing information, Mosey automatically recalculates your requirements.


 

Add a state and import existing state payroll account information

If you've already been running payroll in a state, but want to add that state so Mosey can track your compliance obligations, follow these steps to get started: 

1) Go to the Locations section and click "Add new state"

2) Select the state and click "Next"

Mosey will guide you through a series of questions to calculate your compliance requirements. Begin by clicking “Continue”

3) Select “Yes” when Mosey asks if you've already completed the step.

4) You will then be prompted to import the appropriate information and click “Next”

5) Repeat the steps above for each requirement in the Compliance Navigator (the left hand column in the screenshot below). You’ll be able to import information for any accounts previously created/registered outside of Mosey, assign incomplete tasks, and automate certain requirements with Mosey.
