Adding a New State

Add a state and register your state payroll accounts for the first time, or import information for state payroll accounts you've previously registered.

Add a state to run payroll for the first time

If you are running payroll in a new state for the first time follow the steps below.

💡Pro Tip: Use the "Automate with Mosey" option to let Mosey handle new account registrations.

1) Go to the Locations section and click "Add New State."


2) Select the state and click "Next."

Mosey will guide you through a series of setup questions to calculate your compliance requirements. Begin by clicking “Continue.”

3) Go through the setup questions for the location. To have Mosey set up a payroll registration select ‘Automate.’

4) Submit the form.

5) You're all set! Mosey will take it from here and you'll be notified once account registration has been completed. You can then grab your tax account information from the “Accounts” tab and provide it to your payroll provider.

Complete each configuration question in the setup navigator. You’ll be able to import information for any accounts previously created/registered outside of Mosey, assign incomplete tasks, and automate certain requirements with Mosey. As you enter your existing information, Mosey automatically recalculates your requirements.


 

Add a state and import existing state payroll account information

If you've already been running payroll in a state, but want to add that state so Mosey can track your compliance obligations, follow these steps to get started: 

1) Go to the Locations section and click "Add new state."

2) Select the state and click "Next."

Mosey will guide you through a series of questions to calculate your compliance requirements. Begin by clicking “Continue.”

3) Select “I already did this” when Mosey asks if you've already completed the step.

4) Next, you can either continue with the rest of the configuration questions or add your account number directly to Mosey.

💡 Pro Tip: We recommend answering all of your setup questions before adding an account number so that you can import your account numbers at the same time.

5) To add an account number to Mosey, go to that state’s homepage. Then go to the ‘Accounts’ tab.

6) Once in the accounts tab, you can add your applicable account number as seen below. The number will automatically save. Please note that if you entered the incorrect number or made a typo, you will need to reach out to support@mosey.com to update this information.
